Moose Jaw, SK

This is the Bed and Breakfast Home that we recently stayed in. It is located in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. It was built in 1914 and the present owners are renovating it. There was some beautiful woodwork on the main floor. The front enclosed veranda is where breakfast is usually served but it was too cold when we were there. We were in the Penthouse Suite so right on the top floor - lots of steps but worth the climb.

New Baby

I realize the quality of my pictures are not great but I was in the car and had to use my zoom to try and get this photos. This was right across the road from our yard and the fawn was oh so new. Even our dog Sparky seemed amazed and kept so still and quiet. It made a gloomy, wet, cold day a little brighter in our world here at the lake.

Hubby's Holiday

So recently I was on a holiday in Vancouver, British Columbia visiting my oldest daughter and her finance.

While I was gone, Hubby must never have slept as he cut an opening in between the dining room and living room. He took out the temporary floor above the living room. Finally he built a huge deck on the backside of our home. Apparently the weather was wonderful so he probably enjoyed the deck building the most.

Needless to say I was quite surprised. I am thinking I should go away again!

Now of course the weather has reverted back to wind and rain for the long week-end.

Dog in the Tub II

Okay, some of you remember my story of our dog, Sparky being in the tub one day when we got home. Well, again today, same thing. We have no idea again what he was doing in the tub or why he was in the tub. I may have an idea - both times I had my slow cooker going and sometimes it starts to make noise with the lid rattling. I wonder if it scares him but why he goes in the tub and not under the bed, etc. is very strange. He has never been afraid of thunder or tools or other loud noises so this does not really sound like the cause. Maybe he just felt he needed a bath - wonder if he will learn to turn on the tap!!!!!

Mother's Day

Today I received this package from BC and in it was the wind chime you see hanging here on our front veranda. It is a very interesting bird that moves in the wind. The chime was made in Bali and daughter, Jenn found it at her favourite greenhouse, Georama (not sure of the spelling). We will have to wait for a windy day to see how it sounds as today was absolutely calm and sunny and beautiful out. The lake was like a mirror. We had our afternoon coffee on a deck lake front. Don't you just love spring!

Hickory Kitchen

As I have shared before, I along with my Hubby make kitchen and bathroom cabinets. We are currently working on a large kitchen made entirely of hickory. The wilder the grain of the wood, the more the home owners love the look so I had to become an artist and basically design the doors. The owners are just so excited with my choices that I am feeling a little over whelmed. Today we installed most of the doors and drawer fronts and I must say the kitchen is definitely outstanding. I hope they will let me take some pictures when we are all done. It is nice to work for a couple that enjoy our company and our product.

Ice Sculptures

It is May 2nd and our lake is already started to clear - this is very early for this to happen. One day we had a strong wind and it blew the ice onto the shore on the west side of the lake. It looks like a bunch of ice cubes piled up. Brenda came to visit us at the lake and so we had to tour the lake, of course, starting with the ice. Since the piles are partly on the shoreline they will remain there now until they melt. Apparently some years the ice has piled up as high as 20-30'. It is amazing to see the force of the ice where it pushed up docks.
