Shekinah

This last week-end I was privileged to attend a Ladies Retreat at Shekinah. The retreat was put on by the Prince Albert Alliance Church.

Shekinah is a retreat/Camp area along the river bank built and managed by the Mennonites. It has an amazing building made with recycled timbers from an elevator. It is very enjoyable to spend some time here. There is a small chapel on the third floor, bedrooms on the ground floor and main floor, dining hall, games area, fireplace area and so on.

Our guest speaker for the week-end was Maureen Dyna, a nurse, a mother, a worship leader and a gifted speaker. Her theme was the four seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter and how our spiritual life can be just like the change in the seasons. She is also an avid gardener and so had lots of stories from her experiences to draw from. We also had a muscial worship team with a keyboard, two guitars and drums so there was lots of praise and worship music happening. It felt good to renew my faith and to hear what God can do in our lives if we just let Him in.

Unfortunately the trails were still covered with snow but we did get in a short walk on Saturaday.

The food also was terrific with even some of my favourite Mennonite dishes.

I did not really know many of the ladies attending but they were a great bunch and all were open to getting to know each other from the youngest to the oldest. I shared my room with one other lady and we hit it off too.

If you ever hear of an event at Shekinah, try to attend - it would be worth it just to see the building!!!!

  1. Oh how excited I was to see a new post from you! I'm glad you had a good time. Don't make too many good friends, it will just make you sadder to leave when you move out here ;)
